🌸 About Mary Perry
Hi, I’m Mary. And if you’ve ever stood in front of the mirror at midnight thinking, “maybe if I just cut it…” then we’ve already met. ✂️ I’ve had crooked bangs, uneven layers, and at least one “what did I just do?” bob. Most of my haircuts weren’t planned — they were emotional decisions with dull scissors.
I didn’t start Haircutster because I had a plan. I started it because I didn’t. I’ve cut my hair out of boredom, grief, excitement, and frustration. Some people write in journals; I reach for scissors. It’s never perfect, but it’s always honest.
This space isn’t about polished tutorials or “life-changing” trends. It’s about the real moments: the break-up bobs, the trims that went too far, the impulsive chops that ended up becoming favorites. I write for anyone who knows a haircut can feel like therapy — even if it’s lopsided therapy. 💇‍♀️
I’ve left salons smiling politely while holding back tears, and I’ve also danced around my room because a random layered cut made me feel brand new. Hair has carried me through heartbreaks, job interviews, vacations, and those mornings where dry shampoo was the only thing holding me together.
Sometimes my hair looks like a crown; sometimes it looks like it’s staging a protest. I’ve had curls collapse an hour into prom, bangs that didn’t grow out fast enough, and dye jobs that turned my bathroom towels orange. 💫 Those moments were messy, but they’re the ones I remember most.
Over the years I’ve learned that sharing these stories matters. The fails, the fixes, the tips that actually help — that’s what built Haircutster into more than just my journal. It turned into a place where women swap stories and laugh at the disasters together.
And honestly? The best part has been hearing your stories back. The texts, the emails, the “look what I did” photos — they remind me this isn’t just my outlet. It’s ours. A reminder that none of us are alone in this. 🌱
So if you’ve ever picked up scissors just to feel something, or stared at your reflection whispering “just fix it” — welcome. 🖤 Pull up a chair, share your chaos, and stay awhile. Perfect hair isn’t required here — just you, as you are.
