Haircutster (“Haircutster”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the website https://haircutster.com (the “Site”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use, share, and protect it, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to information collected through the Site, our contact form, our email newsletter, and the advertising shown on the Site. It does not apply to third-party websites we link to. Please read it together with our Terms and Conditions and Disclaimer. By using the Site, you agree to the practices described here.
Information We Collect
Information you provide to us
We receive this information only when you choose to give it to us:
- Contact form: your name, email address, an optional phone number, a subject, and your message (for example, when you ask a question or enquire about a partnership or sponsorship).
- Newsletter: the email address you submit to receive updates. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email.
- Comments: if commenting is enabled and you leave a comment, the name, email, and comment text you provide, plus your IP address and browser details (used to detect spam).
Information collected automatically
When you visit the Site, some information is collected automatically through your device and through cookies and similar technologies:
- Usage data: pages viewed, date and time of your visit, time on page, the site that referred you, and links you click.
- Device and connection data: your IP address, approximate (city or region level) location, browser type, operating system, language, and device type.
- Cookie and advertising identifiers: identifiers set by cookies and similar technologies, including those used by our analytics and advertising partners.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device; similar technologies include pixels and local storage. We and our partners use them to operate the Site, remember preferences, understand how the Site is used, serve advertising, and keep the Site secure. They generally fall into these categories:
- Strictly necessary cookies that make the Site work and stay secure.
- Performance and analytics cookies that show us how the Site is used. We use Google Analytics for this.
- Functionality cookies that remember your choices.
- Advertising cookies set by our advertising provider and its vendors to serve, cap, measure, and (where permitted) personalize ads. Our display advertising is managed through Journey by Mediavine.
You can control or delete cookies in your browser settings, opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on, and manage advertising cookies using the options in the Advertising section below. We also honor recognized opt-out preference signals, including Global Privacy Control (GPC), where required by law. Blocking some cookies may affect how the Site works.
Advertising
The Site is supported by display advertising managed through Journey by Mediavine, the advertising service operated by Mediavine. Mediavine and its advertising partners may use cookies, device identifiers, and similar technologies to collect information such as your IP address, device and browser details, and browsing activity in order to serve, frequency-cap, and measure ads and, where you have consented or it is otherwise permitted, to show you interest-based (personalized) ads. You can review the companies involved on the Mediavine advertising partners list.
If you visit from the EEA, the UK, or another region that requires consent, you will be asked for your advertising and cookie preferences through a consent banner, and you can change them at any time. You can also manage interest-based advertising in these ways:
- Use Global Privacy Control (GPC) and the consent choices shown to you on the Site.
- Opt out at the Network Advertising Initiative, the Digital Advertising Alliance (or YourAdChoices), and, in the EU, Your Online Choices.
- Adjust the advertising settings on your device or operating system.
For more detail, see the Mediavine Privacy Policy and the Google Privacy Policy.
Affiliate Links and Sponsored Content
The Site contains affiliate links and may feature sponsored content or brand partnerships. When you click an affiliate link, the merchant or affiliate network may set a cookie to attribute a qualifying purchase, and we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This Privacy Policy covers only the data side of these relationships; for our full affiliate, sponsorship, and earnings disclosures, please see our Disclaimer.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above to:
- Operate, maintain, and improve the Site and its content.
- Respond to your messages, questions, partnership enquiries, and requests.
- Send our newsletter to subscribers until they unsubscribe.
- Display and measure advertising on the Site.
- Analyze traffic and usage trends to make the Site more useful.
- Keep the Site secure, prevent spam and abuse, and protect our rights.
- Comply with our legal obligations and enforce our policies.
Legal Bases for Processing (EEA and UK Visitors)
If you are in the EEA or UK, we process personal data only where we have a legal basis: your consent (for example, the newsletter and non-essential or advertising cookies, which you may withdraw at any time); our legitimate interests (for example, keeping the Site secure and understanding how it is used); and legal obligation.
How We Share Your Information
We share information only in the limited ways below:
- Service providers: companies that process data on our behalf, such as our hosting and content-delivery provider, our analytics provider (Google), and our email/newsletter provider. They may use the data only to provide services to us.
- Advertising partners: Journey by Mediavine and its approved vendors receive cookie or device identifiers and usage data to serve and measure ads on the Site.
- Affiliate networks: when you click an affiliate link, the relevant network or merchant may receive click and cookie data to attribute a purchase.
- Legal and safety: when required by law, court order, or valid government request, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of our visitors, the public, or us.
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.
We do not sell your personal information for money. However, the use of advertising and analytics cookies described above may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising under some U.S. state privacy laws. You can opt out at any time using Global Privacy Control, the consent tools shown on the Site, and the industry opt-out links in the Advertising section above.
Third-Party Links and Services
The Site links to other websites and uses third-party services. We are not responsible for their privacy practices or content, and this Policy does not cover them. We encourage you to review their own privacy policies.
Data Retention
We keep personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes in this Policy: messages and contact details for as long as needed to handle your request and our records, newsletter data until you unsubscribe, and analytics data for the retention period set in our analytics tools. We then delete or anonymize it, unless the law requires us to keep it.
Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures, such as encryption in transit (HTTPS) and access controls, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
International Data Transfers
We are based in the United States, and our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. If you access the Site from elsewhere, your information may be transferred to and processed in countries whose data-protection laws differ from yours. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
Your Privacy Rights
EEA and UK residents
You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to our processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data-protection supervisory authority.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA)
You have the right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used, to access, delete, and correct it, to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and to limit the use of sensitive personal information. We do not sell your personal information for money, we honor Global Privacy Control as a valid opt-out of sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Other U.S. state residents
Residents of states with comprehensive privacy laws (including Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, and others) have similar rights to access, correct, delete, and obtain a copy of their personal data, and to opt out of targeted advertising, sale, or certain profiling. We extend these rights as each law requires.
How to exercise your rights: email us at hair@haircutster.com or use our contact page. We may need to verify your identity before responding, you may use an authorized agent where the law allows, and we will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law.
Children’s Privacy
The Site is intended for a general, adult audience and is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 where a higher age applies). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Some browsers offer a Do Not Track (DNT) setting and a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. There is no common industry standard for DNT, but we honor GPC opt-out signals where required by applicable law.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above, and for material changes we will provide a more prominent notice where appropriate. Your continued use of the Site after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
