About Haircutster
Hi, I’m Mary Perry. Haircutster started from a simple frustration: most haircut advice online is either a wall of jargon or a stream of pretty photos with nothing useful underneath. I wanted a place that talked about haircuts the way a good stylist does in the chair, plainly and clearly, with your actual hair and face in mind.
So that is what this is. Every guide here is meant to help you make a real decision: what a cut or style actually involves, who it tends to suit, how much upkeep it really needs, and, just as often, what I would gently talk you out of. No hype, no trends for the sake of trends, and no calling a look low-maintenance when it is not.
How I approach it
I write about every hair type the same way. Straight, wavy, curly, coily, and textured hair all get real, specific guidance here, never an afterthought. I try to be honest about the trade-offs, because the cut that looks easy in a photo is sometimes the one that fights you every morning. When something genuinely needs a professional, I say so, and I tell you exactly what to ask for when you get there.
What you will find here
- Clear-eyed breakdowns of cuts, styles, and color, including what suits you and what it takes to keep.
- Styling steps you can actually follow at home, without a kit full of special tools.
- Straight answers to the questions people really ask in the salon chair.
Haircutster is here to save you the trial and error, so you walk into your next appointment knowing exactly what you want, and why.
